DENVER (KDVR) — On Wednesday, the NBA announced the groups for its in-season tournament.

Teams from their respective conference, either the Eastern or Western, are randomly drawn into groups, based on the previous season's win and loss record. Five teams are selected per group.

The Denver Nuggets highlight West Group C featuring NBA superstars, champions and some of the fastest rising young teams in the league.

After an exciting offseason, the Nuggets are looking forward to making another title run, and the teams they will face in the group stage of the Emirates NBA Cup 2025 are a great way to test their mettle against some faces they might see come playoff time.

Golden State Warriors

This Warriors team might not look like the four-time champion of years past, but it still possesses the personnel that could see the team lift the Larry O'Brien Trophy next June.

Anytime you have Stephen Curry on a team, anything is possible. A strong core that knows what it takes to win a championship added another playoff riser in Jimmy Butler last season. They knocked out the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets before an injury to Curry derailed their playoff run in the Western Conference semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Houston Rockets

Speaking of the Rockets — last season's No. 2 seed in the Western Conference somehow got even better in the offseason, adding NBA superstar Kevin Durant, as well as bringing in coveted NBA vets Dorian Finney-Smith and Clint Capela who is joining the Rockets for the second time in his career after being drafted by the team in 2014.

The Rockets gave up some of their assets in the first-ever seven-team trade to land Durant. A young team that made a big jump to the second seed last season decided their contention window arrived a bit earlier than expected, and prioritized bringing in some help to win right now.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs will be one of the more interesting teams to track next season. They have young superstar Victor Wembenyama back on the court after deep vein thrombosis forced him out for the last two months of the season.

Reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle will look to build upon his impressive first year, while the rest of the backcourt will be filled up with All-Star De'Aaron Fox and the 2025 No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper. The Spurs coaching staff, who will begin a season without Gregg Popovich for the first time since 1996, is going to have to figure out how to make a competitor from this young nucleus.

Portland Trailblazers

The Trailblazers had a somewhat sneaky positive season last year. While they may not want to go all in on winning right now, the team had its young core make a significant leap towards success last season.

Anfernee Simons was recently dealt to the Boston Celtics for two-time NBA champ Jrue Holiday, who will join the organization and be an important mentor to the young backcourt of Shaedon Sharpe and former No. 2 overall pick Scoot Henderson, who may be handed the starting point guard spot after the departure of Simons.

During the Emirates NBA Cup, each team will face off against the others in its group once, and the team with the best record in each group will advance to the knockout stages. Those who advance will be joined by two wildcard teams.
