Disruptive rain, which may lead to localised flooding, is forecast for some parts of the Western Cape, while cloudy and warm conditions are expected for the rest of the country, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).

Impact-based warnings

Yellow level 1 warning: Disruptive rain is expected over the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape and parts of the interior of the Western Cape, including the City of Cape Town. This may result in localised flooding of roads, bridges, and settlements.

In the SAWS’s colour-coded weather warning system, yellow indicates a moderate risk of impact that requires caution and awareness, while orange indicates that a higher-risk impact is expected, requiring increased attention and preparation.

SAWS uses the numbers to indicate the likelihood of weather-based impacts occurring. Levels 2 and 6 are high, and level 4 is low.

Advisories

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected across most parts of the Eastern Cape, except in the extreme north.
