It’s only an upward journey for Marvel, as its 38th superhero action feature, director Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man: Brand New Dayhas hit another box-office milestone, thanks to its collection of another $145 million in the U.S this weekend. Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink, John Bernthal, Jacob Batalon and Tramell Tillman, the fourth Spider-Man installment in the MCU sees our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man deal with the fallout of Dr Strange’s spell from Spider-Man: No Way Home as well as new threats in potential enemies and his own super abilities.

This weekend saw Spider-Man: Brand New Day push its global total to $1.665 billion, having accumulated $655 million domestically and $1.01 billion overseas. The film has now officially seen the third-best box office second weekend in the U.S, with the top spot coming in with Star Wars: Episode VII ($149 million globally by its second U.S weekend) and second going to Avengers: Endgame ($147 million globally by its second U.S weekend).

Cretton’s comic film is now the second-fastest feature to hit the $1 billion mark at the global box office, having done so in six days, coming in behind Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, which grossed $1 billion in just five days.

Additional milestones for the film include the second-largest global box office opening, coming behind Avengers: Endgame with $1.22 billion and ahead of Avengers: Infinity War’s $640 million, and Spider-Man: No Way Home’s $600 million.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has also grossed $1.44 billion over its initial budget of $225 million.

Pixar’s 31st feature family adventure is now in third place in the 2026 box office rank, having also been overtaken by a star-studded cast Greek epic adventure.

Speak of the devil, Christopher Nolan’s epic adaptation The Odyssey is coming in second place at the 2026 box office rank, with the Matt Damon-led retelling of Homer’s Greek poem of the same title now holding $1.105 billion at the global box office, marking it as the director’s highest-grossing release.
