DENVER (KDVR) — A Longmont family has spent five years seeking answers in the unsolved murder of their loved one.

Police say Angel De La Cruz was shot and killed at the 20th Street exit ramp on Interstate 25 back on June 20, 2020. His family refuses to give up hope.

“It doesn’t get easier, you just learn to live with," said Bernadette Martinez, the mother of Angel's children.

His family lives by a motto: One day at a time.

“You just take every day as it comes," said Bernadette.

Angel's days were cut short in the early morning hours of June 20, 2020.

“His murder wasn’t normal. It was a group of people who decided to take his life for whatever and leave his body," said Bernadette. "Not even on the side of the highway, in the middle of the road. It’s disgusting, it’s horrible.”

Now, five years later, still no arrests even though Angel's family believes they know who may be responsible.

“You know, we know. People know," said Bernadette. "For you to walk around and pretend like you were his friends, or you were."

The hardest part for Angel's family is to see his four children grow up without him present.

“They can’t live as freely because it's always something that hurts them or reminds them their dad is not here because people like you took his life so violently for nothing," said Bernadette. “He was a great father, he was a good son, funny, always joking. Just a good person, he didn’t deserve what he got. He didn’t deserve that at all. Nobody does. It's time that people speak up."

A $2,000 reward is being offered for any tips leading to an arrest. If you have any information, you are asked to call the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
