DENVER (KDVR) — A Colorado ski resort cleaned up the mountain after a months-long ski season, but workers found more than just some melted snow and lost poles.

Most of the Colorado mountains wrapped up ski season in the spring, with Arapahoe Basin being the last ski area to close in mid-June. Some snow has melted, but before summer activities begin on the mountains, workers have to clear more than just stray skis.

Ski season is over: Here’s how to have fun in Colorado’s mountains this summer

Breckenridge Ski Resort closed in mid-May for the winter and posted on its social media about the cleanup in June. While over 150 workers cleared an estimated 780 pounds of trash from the mountain, they found one particularly odd bottle.

What was left behind after the ski season?

During the cleanup, workers found a message in a bottle. Normally, a message in a bottle would be sent away in the ocean for someone else to find, but this time, it was left on a ski mountain and found by Breckenridge workers.

However, it wasn't a long-lost love letter. A spokesperson for Breckenridge Ski Resort said they joked the note said anything from "Drink your Ovaltine" to "Stuck in a bottle, send help!" to "Buy Your Epic Pass," but in reality, it was an old COVID-19 vaccination card.

That wasn't the only odd find on the mountain. Workers also found anything from a lost iPod Nano, a music player first introduced in 2005, to a hamburger flipper.

Here's what the workers say they found:

  • iPod Nano
  • Broken phones
  • "Amy's driver's license"
  • Glasses
  • Vapes
  • Hamburger flipper
  • Epic Passes
  • Beads
  • Snowboard boots
  • Airpods
  • Tubes
  • $2 Canadian coin
  • Tiny single ski boot
  • Rental skis
  • Piles of poles
  • Message in a bottle

This wasn't the first time the resort found some odd belongings after a winter season. Last season, Breckenridge found a huge empty jug of barbecue sauce, a full uneaten pineapple and even someone’s Invisalign.

After finding the trash left this last season, the resort said it serves as a reminder to be mindful and "pack out what you bring in."
