Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — Denver locals walking around downtown might be a bit confused as the city may look like it has traveled back in time to the early 1900s on this Fourth of July weekend.
Beautiful harmonies will echo through the corridors of downtown Denver as thousands of barbershop singers from all over the world make their way to the Mile High City to celebrate the 2025 Barbershop Harmony Society's International Convention.
The convention is expecting to have 4,400 barbershop singers in attendance.
Performers representing nations like Japan, New Zealand, Sweden and countries across the United Kingdom will take part in singing competitions, including:
- 35 choruses in the International Chorus Contest
- 65 quartets in the International Quartet Contest
- 21 quartets in the Next Generation Barbershop Varsity Quartet Contest for singers age 25 and under
In its fourth year of the convention, the international contests are open to all singers without regard for gender, competing on an equal basis for the same honors.
The Barbershop Harmony Society said that the best show for the general public is the Remembering Time performance, featuring The Association of International Champions, consisting of 13 world champion quartets.
For those who may want to study the art form, the convention is holding small classes teaching singing and performance, open rehearsals, coaching sessions and Tag Zones, which are informal singing in public spaces.
Social meetups will be held in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Denver Convention Center, as barbershop singers from all walks of life have the opportunity to see how their medium varies from different parts of the world.
