A wounded Ukrainian soldier was airlifted to safety by an aerial drone after spending 491 days at a frontline position in the Kharkiv region. Kostiantyn Vlasenko, 49, said he suffered severe injuries to both legs and amputated one himself because it could not be saved. “They died on their way to me, they never made it…they are heroes,” he said of fellow soldiers killed trying to reach him. Vlasenko sheltered in a cramped boiler room until his evacuation on Oct. 4, before describing the sound of the arriving drone as “the hum of rescue.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on TikTok HERE: https://www.tiktok.com/@globalnews.ca?lang=en #GlobalNews
