The Houston Texans were being linked to former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb. After the pair were reported to be close in signing a deal, the Texans have made a major announcement.

According to multiple reports, the Texans are officially signing Chubb to a one-year, $5 million deal. Chubb passed his physical, and now he will be a member of the Texans organization.

Chubb joins only the second team in his career, as he spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Browns. After suffering a horrific season-ending injury in 2023, Chubb made his return to the field during Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season.

Chubb has had some major season-ending injuries in his football playing career. As a member of the Georgia Bulldogs, the star running back suffered a horrible knee injury during the 2015 season.

In what was called "grotesque," Chubb suffered a dislocation of his left knee, tore the medial collateral ligament (MCL), lateral collateral ligament (LCL), and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), and also experienced cartilage damage.

Despite the massive injury, Chubb would return in 2016. He put together three seasons rushing over 1,000 yards, leading to his being drafted by the Browns in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Chubb would impress during his rookie season as a member of the Browns, racking up 996 rushing yards, eight touchdowns, 149 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns.

Chubb continued his dominance in the league, securing over 1,000 yards in the next four seasons. In total, he would secure 6,341 rushing yards, 48 rushing touchdowns, 990 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns in the first five seasons of his career.

These stellar performances led to four Pro Bowl nods and one Second-team All-Pro nod.

Despite the huge success in the early years of his career, Chubb would, unfortunately, suffer a near-identical injury in 2023, as he did in college. During Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season, Chubb was struck on his knee, resulting in a torn MCL and damaged ACL.

It took a long time for Chubb to return to the field, but he was able to do so in 2024, putting together 332 yards on the ground with two touchdowns, along with 31 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Chubb is now fully healed and can become a cornerstone piece in the Texans' offense. Though the team has Joe Mixon as the starter, Chubb can be slotted in as RB2 and be used more in the short passing game as well.
