Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) -- The North Metro Fire Rescue District has opened a temporary fire station at 12400 W. 112th Ave. in Broomfield, while a new permanent structure is under development.
The temporary station for the new Fire Station 68 has one fire engine and a three-member crew — including one paramedic — and provides "vital emergency response coverage" to the western portion of the district, the NMFRD announced Tuesday.
The temporary station is equipped to "support all-hazard responses, essential operations, crew accommodations and rapid deployment," according to the rescue district.
“The new temporary Station 68 will serve a growing part of our community with faster response times while the permanent structure is being built,” said NMFRD Deputy Chief Matt Horan in a statement.
The agency said upcoming milestones for Fire Station 68 include:
- Groundbreaking of the permanent station in late 2025 (is flexible)
- Delivery of a new fire engine in early 2026
The agency said its support services, architectural team and civil engineers are "actively working" to advance the permanent station's design, in order to ensure a "seamless transition" once land acquisition is finalized.
The NMFRD covers more than 125,000 people in the City and County of Broomfield, the City of Northglenn and unincorporated areas of Adams, Boulder, Jefferson and Weld Counties.
