After finding the bunnies in early May, the sheriff's office said on Friday it was able to quickly identify the suspect thanks to help from the community.

"Rabbit Justice: Delivered! A huge THANK YOU to everyone in our community who shared tips, info, and posts. Because of your quick action and support, we were able to quickly identify the suspect behind the rabbit abandonment," the sheriff's office said in a post on X.

The sheriff's office said the suspect faces 18 misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty.

As for the bunnies, the sheriff's office said there are some ready for new homes. Four to five bunnies are available at the Foothills Animal Shelter.

"We couldn’t have done this without you. Thanks for keeping an eye out and making a difference," the sheriff's office said.
