The event will feature CU Boulder's Chancellor Justin Schwartz, Boulder Mayor Aaron Brocket, Boulder County Commissioner Claire Levy, Sundance Film Festival Programmer Sudeep Sharma and community members.
The fourth annual CU Night in downtown Boulder is focused on the arts this year and the attending speakers will offer remarks about the exciting time for the arts in Boulder and what the future of collaborations, academic partnerships and the effect on the economy.
The relocation of the Sundance Film Festival from Park City, Utah to Boulder was great news for many Coloradans. Not only is it one of the biggest film festivals in the world, but it also offers opportunities for aspiring and seasoned filmmakers alike.
The Sundance Institute Labs are the stuff of legends, putting some of Hollywood's most iconic filmmakers on the map.
While there has been no official word on whether or not the labs will primarily operate in Utah, still, the Director's Lab was already held in Colorado at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park in 2024, and was also the site of the 2025 Director's Lab, which ended a week or so ago on June 16.
Colorado invested heavily in the prospect of bringing Sundance to the state, expecting to see a return economically and to provide opportunities for creatives in Colorado.
