Fed Day: Gold holds $4000, Silver holds $52 support: Renisha Chainani, chief research officer at Augmont

Price Movement – Gold is clinging to the $4000 floor as traders brace for this week’s Fed decision. Two forces are tugging in opposite directions. Oil above $110 keeps inflation and December rate-hike risk alive, while softer Treasury yields and steady physical buying lend support.

Investment Demand – China’s appetite for gold shows no sign of fading. September imports rose 34% Y/Y to a three-month high of 144.9 metric tons, and YTD imports have jumped 67% Y/Y to 1,286 tons. Western investment demand has cooled, but Asian physical buying should cushion prices in the coming weeks. India is the one to watch, with Diwali likely to spark fresh buying.

Macro-Economic Signals – All eyes are on the Fed’s policy decision, due at midnight today, and on Thursday’s Personal Consumption Expenditures data. That’s the gauge the central bank watches most closely against its 2% inflation target. The Fed is expected to hold rates at 4% today. The real worry is further out: CME FedWatch puts the odds of a December hike at 82%, and that’s the biggest headwind for gold.

    Technical Triggers

    · Short-term (10-15 days) - Gold has slipped below its key $4,000 (₹1,42,000) support, which leaves room for a further fall towards $3,950 (₹1,40,000). Silver has also broken its $54.5 (₹2,00,000) support and could ease towards the $50 (~₹1,80,000–1,85,000) zone.

    · Medium term (2-3 Months) – Both metals are trying to build a base, gold around $3,950–4,000 and silver around $50–55. These are strong support and accumulation zones. We expect prices to hold here and then rebound 10–15% over the coming weeks. For the uptrend to resume, gold needs to stay above $4,100 and silver above $58.

Jio Platforms listing: Stock debuts at 21% premium as investor demand remains strong

Tarun Singh, Founder & MD, Highbrow Securities on Jio Listing:

Jio Platforms made a strong stock market debut, listing at a premium of around 21% to its issue price. The solid listing reflects healthy demand and constructive market sentiment, with the IPO seeing robust overall subscription levels led by institutional participation. A pure fresh issue of this size clearing with conviction is a positive signal for the primary market, and the debut stayed orderly rather than euphoric.

Sustained performance will now depend on how the stock holds once initial volumes settle. Investors may consider holding for the longer term given the company’s scale, cash generation and compounding profile. Fresh entries should be approached with attention to price stability, free-float liquidity and how the valuation sits against listed peers in the sessions ahead. Listing day is one data point. The real test is what follows.

US Midterms Could Trigger Volatility Across Gold, Dollar, Stocks and Crypto: Ross Maxwell, Chief Strategy Officer, VT Markets

The US midterm elections on November 3, 2026, could significantly influence financial markets as investors assess their implications for fiscal policy, inflation and interest rates. Recent polling suggests Democrats are leading the generic congressional ballot by approximately 8–9 percentage points, while the Senate remains competitive. Markets are already considering the possibility of reduced Republican control, making an unexpected Republican sweep a potential trigger for sharper market repricing.

Historically, US midterm election years have experienced median annualised stock-market volatility of nearly 16% since 1970, compared with approximately 13% during other years, according to Capital Group research. While this highlights the potential for heightened volatility, the direction of market movements will depend on the election outcome and broader economic conditions.

A divided Congress, with Democrats potentially regaining the House while Republicans retain the Senate, remains the base case. This could limit major fiscal expansion and ease upward pressure on Treasury yields, potentially supporting gold and US equities while placing moderate pressure on the US dollar, provided yields stabilise or decline. Gold continues to draw support from central bank purchases and geopolitical uncertainty, although persistent inflation and elevated real yields could limit its recovery.

US equities remain cautiously constructive under a divided Congress, provided Treasury yields stabilise and corporate earnings remain resilient. However, following substantial equity gains, elevated valuations leave the Nasdaq particularly vulnerable to rising yields, given its exposure to high-growth technology companies and AI-related investments. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies could benefit from declining Treasury yields, improving financial conditions and stronger risk appetite, but higher yields and a stronger US dollar could weigh on speculative assets.

An unexpected Republican sweep could initially support financials and industrials on expectations of deregulation, but concerns over fiscal expansion, deficits and Treasury issuance could push yields higher, pressuring equity valuations, gold and cryptocurrencies. Democratic control of both chambers could constrain fiscal expansion, although political confrontation and budget disputes could prolong uncertainty.

Ultimately, Treasury yields, inflation and Federal Reserve expectations will remain the key indicators to watch. The impact of the election will depend less on political headlines and more on whether the outcome produces a lasting shift in borrowing costs and broader financial conditions.

Bitcoin rose 0.71% to about $80,668 and Ethereum gained 1.01% to $2,345. Eight of the top ten cryptocurrencies by market cap advanced, averaging 1.46%.

The recovery extend across prices. Solana and TRON returned above their daily midpoints, while Bitcoin finished at 72% of its range, up from 52% a day earlier. Better retention above daily lows shows broader recovery, but does not establish sustained net buying.

Fund demand remained uneven. The completed 26 October US session brought $110.3 million into Bitcoin ETFs, entirely through IBIT, while Ether funds lost $88.6 million.

The next macro event is the Fed decision on interest rates on 28 October at 11:30 PM IST. US GDP and personal income and outlays, including PCE inflation, follow on 29 October at 6:00 PM IST.

Bitcoin’s reference support levels are near $80,000 and $79,370, while resistance is around $81,181 and $82,000. These reflect recent price action and do not establish a directional view.

Metal commentary | Gaurav Garg, Head - Research, Lemonn

Gold and silver are facing renewed pressure as investors remain cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy announcement, with elevated energy costs complicating the inflation outlook. Gold is struggling to build on its recent recovery above $4,000, while silver’s sharper decline reflects its greater sensitivity to industrial-demand expectations and broader metals-market weakness. The Fed’s guidance on future policy will be crucial in determining whether bullion can stabilise or extend its correction. WTI crude is gaining as renewed concerns over a potential US–Iran escalation and risks to Middle Eastern energy infrastructure revive supply-disruption fears. The rupee is weakening towards ₹95.18 per dollar amid elevated oil-related import demand and uncertainty ahead of the Fed decision, although RBI dollar sales have helped limit sharper currency losses.

Bitcoin price outlook: BTC eyes $81,700 resistance as recovery gains momentum: Nischal Shetty, Founder, WazirX

“Crypto markets extended their recovery as improving global equity sentiment, stronger US economic data and expectations of a Federal Reserve pause supported investor participation. Bitcoin moved above $80,000, while Ethereum strengthened beyond $2,350, even as inflation and institutional positioning remained mixed.

US consumer confidence improved and durable goods orders increased, reducing immediate recession concerns. Stable Treasury yields and lower oil prices also eased some pressure on financial conditions. However, elevated Australian inflation reinforced expectations of further regional tightening, while firm US demand may encourage the Federal Reserve to maintain cautious policy guidance despite holding rates. The combination supports crypto liquidity without signaling a broader shift toward easier monetary conditions.

Bitcoin traded near $80,771, continuing its recovery within a broader consolidation. Immediate support sits at $80,000-$80,400, followed by $77,700-$78,000, while resistance remains at $81,100-$81,700. Holding support could preserve momentum. Futures traders may seek stronger volume, rising open interest and balanced funding before treating a move through resistance as broadly supported.

Ethereum traded near $2,351, extending its rebound despite remaining below moving averages. Support sits at $2,330-$2,350, followed by $2,315-$2,320. Resistance remains around $2,375-$2,420, surrounding the $2,400 level. Holding support could sustain recovery interest, but testing resistance would not confirm momentum.

The wider market environment strengthened. KOSPI gained 5.18%, Nikkei rose 1.37% and US technology shares advanced, with Nasdaq adding 1.18%. The S&P 500 gained 0.60%, while VIX declined 4.73%. Gold rose around 0.9%, and oil fell nearly 1.5%, reducing some inflation pressure and supporting participation across higher-growth assets.

Institutional activity remained divided. US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $110.34 million, entirely through BlackRock’s IBIT, while Ethereum ETFs recorded $88.58 million in outflows. Both assets nevertheless advanced, showing that ETF flows are only one market influence. Spot demand, short-covering, derivatives positioning, exchange supply and macro expectations can offset institutional activity, delaying an equivalent response in prices.”

Delhi High Court Grants Kotak Interim Relief Against Online Impersonation and Investment Frauds

The Delhi High Court has granted ad-interim protection to Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited and its group entity Kotak Securities Limited against unidentified persons allegedly impersonating them online and misusing the “KOTAK” brand to lure investors into fraudulent investment schemes. The order was passed by Justice Vikas Mahajan on 14 October 2026 in Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited & Anr. v. John Doe & Ors., CS(COMM) 1075/2026.

The case concerns unidentified “John Doe” defendants who, according to the plaintiffs, have been operating through social media and messaging platforms using Kotak’s corporate names and registered trademarks. The Bank pleaded before the Court that fraudsters had approached consumers and investors during 2024, 2025 and 2026 through social media as well as WhatsApp and Telegram groups, offering purported trading platforms and applications bearing Kotak trademarks and impersonating genuine representatives and applications.

According to the submissions recorded in the order, investors were allegedly promised guaranteed or high returns and induced to transfer money as investments. The funds were allegedly transferred to private accounts, sole proprietorship firms or individuals, after which investors were unable to withdraw their money. The plaintiffs further informed the Court that they had received over 100 client complaints, with affected investors allegedly losing amounts ranging from ₹1 lakh to ₹10 lakh each.

Kotak Mahindra Bank also told the Court that it had taken steps including filing criminal complaints with the police, but that the fraudulent activity had continued. Following a search conducted in mid-2026, the plaintiffs said they had compiled hundreds of active fraudulent listings across various online platforms.

After examining the material placed before it, the High Court held that the plaintiffs had made out a prima facie case for an ad-interim injunction. The Court observed that the balance of convenience was in the plaintiffs’ favour and that failure to grant interim protection was likely to cause irreparable harm and injury to the plaintiffs, besides financial prejudice to the general public and unwary investors.

The Court accordingly restrained the unidentified defendants and persons acting on their behalf from using, exploiting or misappropriating Kotak’s brands, goodwill and names, including“KOTAK”, “KOTAK BANK” and “KOTAK SECURITIES”, their associated logos and deceptively similar variants without authorisation. It also restrained them from misrepresenting themselves as the plaintiffs, their MDs, CEOs, employees or authorised representatives through websites, mobile applications, social media groups or other media.

In a significant direction aimed at curbing online impersonation, the Court ordered Meta Platforms, WhatsApp, Google, Telegram, X and LinkedIn, arrayed as defendant nos. 2 to 7, to pull down the infringing websites, social-media accounts and other fraudulent links identified by the plaintiffs and annexed to the order. The platforms were further directed to provide the plaintiffs with available details of the persons operating such accounts and links, including their names, contact details, ID proof, photographs and other KYC information.

Darshan Desai, CEO Aspect Bullion & Refinery on the Gold & Bullion industry & effect on it due to the geo-politic tensions:

“Gold prices have fallen in recent sessions, with the market closely watching US interest rates, the dollar and inflation. The upcoming US Federal Reserve decision will play a key role in deciding gold’s near-term direction. In India, the price correction may encourage some buying ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali, but high prices are likely to keep consumers cautious. Bitcoin consolidates near $80,000 ahead of Fed decision as market sentiment weakens: Mudrex

Bitcoin is consolidating around $80,000 ahead of the Fed’s policy decision, with concerns over AI valuations weighing on broader risk sentiment as China’s STAR50 index fell 4.8%. Some buying interest has returned, with US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracting $110 million, ending two sessions of outflows totalling $774 million. On-chain data also points to easing sell pressure, with net Bitcoin outflows from exchanges reaching a five-week high. Markets expect rates to remain at 3.75%–4%, while an 82% probability of a December hike is priced in. The Fed chair’s guidance will be key to the next move. A move above $82,500 could add to the upward momentum, while support stands at $79,500, Prateek Gupta, Head of Business, Mudrex

Crypto Market Review | Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst, Delta Exchange

Crypto markets are seeing a tentative rebound after Bitcoin briefly slipped below $80,000, but sentiment remains cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision.

The broader backdrop is still challenging, with elevated energy prices and uncertainty around the rate path keeping investors defensive.

Bitcoin has recovered toward $81,000 after buyers repeatedly stepped in around the $79,200–$79,600 region, but the $81,000–$81,700 zone remains an important technical barrier. A sustained move above $82,000 could strengthen the recovery, while rejection may put $80,000 and the recent lows back in focus. On-chain signals are somewhat more constructive, with recent exchange inflows declining sharply, suggesting near-term sell-side pressure may be easing.

Ethereum has recovered toward $2,360 but continues to lag Bitcoin, with $2,395–$2,415 acting as the key resistance zone.

ETF demand is also diverging, with Bitcoin flows stabilising faster than Ethereum. The Fed’s guidance remains the key catalyst for the next directional move.

Weakness across Asian FX before Fed decision to put mild pressure on rupee

The rupee may open marginally weaker on Wednesday, tracking losses across most Asian peers, with investors awaiting the Federal Reserve’s policy decision ‌after local market hours for clues on the outlook for further rate hikes.

The rupee is expected to open in the 95.12-95.16 range, per traders, having settled 0.1% higher at 95.1150 to the dollar on Tuesday.

The ‌rupee managed to recover in Tuesday’s session after slipping to 95.24 intraday amid dollar ‌sales by state-run banks which two traders said ‌may be on behalf of the Reserve Bank of India. Traders see 95.30 as a key near-term support level for the Indian currency. (Reuters)

Bitcoin Today | Expert Take | Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com

Bitcoin is trading around $80,700 as investors remain cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision. Immediate support lies near $79,000, followed by $78,600. Resistance is around 80,900-81,000, with 81,500-81,900 as the next zone to watch. A sustained move above resistance could improve near-term momentum, while a break below $79,000 would increase downside risks.

ETF flows show tentative improvement after heavy withdrawals. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $635.6 million in net outflows on October 22 and another $137.9 million on October 23. Inflows returned on October 26, with net buying of $110.3 million. This offers some support, but institutional demand remains uneven.

On-chain indicators remain broadly constructive, although the latest available data are delayed. Bitcoin’s MVRV stood at 1.5506 and SOPR at 1.0036 on October 20. These readings suggest that aggregate holders remain in profit, while recently moved coins are being spent at only a small aggregate gain. They do not rule out further selling pressure.

Large-cap altcoins show mixed performance in the latest verified snapshot. Ethereum traded around $2,320, BNB near $741, XRP around $1.31, Solana near $101 and TRON around $0.33. These are October 26 reference prices, not synchronised live quotes for October 28.

Macro conditions remain crucial. The market is focused on the Federal Reserve’s October 28 decision. Futures were pricing in a 91% probability of rates remaining unchanged. The Fed’s guidance on December policy will be important, as elevated Treasury yields and a firm dollar could continue to weigh on risk assets.

Our advice: Investors should avoid aggressive buying ahead of the Fed announcement. Watch Bitcoin’s $79,000 support, ETF flows and the Fed’s guidance before increasing exposure.
