Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — It's the worst-kept secret in the MLB this year — the Colorado Rockies are having one of the worst seasons in history, and with another loss on Saturday, a new unwanted record was set.
The team recorded its 57th loss of the season, setting the record for the worst 70-game start in the modern era, 13-57, according to AP News.
With each loss accumulated, it seems like the Rockies set a new "worst start in however many games" record, and after a while, pointing that out may seem gratuitous, but with the 70th game of the season played and the midway point of the season fast approaching, it appears that what was once considered a bad start has now become a trend.
The Rockies surpassed the 1932 Boston Red Sox, 14-56, for the worst record since the beginning of the 20th century.
In Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves, the Rockies set a franchise record for the most strikeouts in a nine-inning game with 19. The Braves also set a franchise record at the expense of the Rockies players, recording the most strikeouts thrown in a nine-game inning with the same 19.
Spencer Strider threw 13 of those strikeouts.
Rockies fans will be hoping for any signs of a remedy, but with an upcoming eight consecutive days of games, which includes travel, an epiphany must be struck in limited windows of time, as the team's next full off day doesn't come until June 23.
