Rockies debut historic jersey patch with Denver's York Space Systems

DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Rockies uniforms will look a little different from now on.

On Tuesday, the Rockies debuted a new black and white patch on their jerseys against the Houston Astros, a patch Rockies fans will now be seeing for years to come.

Major League Baseball said this patch marks a historic jersey patch partnership between the Rockies and Denver-based York Space Systems, a leader in aerospace and defense technology, as it's the "first aerospace company in history to partner on a jersey patch deal with any professional sport."

You may have noticed the York logo, "York Space Systems," on jerseys Tuesday night, with a patch sitting on the sleeves of Rockies players and coaches. The patches made their first appearance on Tuesday night, and they will be on their jerseys for at least the next five years.

The MLB said the 5.5-year partnership will continue through the 2030 season with York, which has six facilities in the Denver metro and five other locations across the country.

“This partnership marks a first for our industry, and a powerful reflection of what York stands for,” said Wallinger, founder and CEO of York. “It’s about celebrating Colorado’s spirit of innovation, connecting with a broader audience, and making it clear that the space economy is growing fast, and it’s being built at home.”

The patches are now on the left sleeve for right-handed batters, the right sleeve for left-handed batters, the throwing arm for pitchers and the left sleeve for coaches. But the jerseys aren't the only different thing.

The MLB said Coors Field will also look a little different, with York-branded signs around the stadium. There's York signage at the third baseline, LED placements, and soon, custom aluminum concession cups and the naming entitlement of the Suite Level in 2026. York also plans to have McGregor Square integrations.

York is working with the community as well by presenting an annual suite of STEM-focused youth and educational initiatives, like the Rockies' annual charity night and charity golf tournament.
