Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayLITTLETON, Colo. (KDVR) — Residents said they heard a crash Tuesday, and the next thing they knew, the lights were out in their Littleton neighborhood.
“The pole in the back just snapped and everything went out and it pulled my power line, my cable and everything out of my house,” said Diane Wickstrom, who lives in the neighborhood.
Crews were in and out of the backyards of the Littleton neighborhood all afternoon.
“I am impressed with the fact that they responded so well and there’s so many people here working,” Gary Hoffmann said.
Working to fix multiple power lines that were taken out by a dry microburst, a strong, straight-line wind from a collapsing thunderstorm. It is not just the poles that were damaged.
A massive tree was ripped out of the ground and actually took down power lines in one neighbor's backyard.
“It was scary. I thought it was probably a tree. But it was the telephone pole, and if you look all the way down there, the lines are all laying down,” Wickstrom said.
The woman who owns the tree that fell on the power lines says the tree has been standing for decades. It was there when she moved in more than 30 years ago.
Now it has fallen, as crews work to turn the lights back on in the neighborhood. All from a storm that this area has not seen for a long time.
"We had a storm that took out my whole power box and trees tree took it out. That was back in probably the 80s. So it's been a little while since it's happened," Wickstrom said.
