Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) -- A pair of fundraising shows held annually at the Colorado Convention Center have been sold for an undisclosed amount to the largest producer of consumer shows in the United States.
The Colorado Garden Foundation announced Thursday that its Colorado Garden & Home Show and Colorado Fall Home Show were sold to Marketplace Events, which will take "full ownership" and production responsibility over both events.
The CGF said the sale ensures the "continued success" of the shows — which the foundation said are its "primary fundraising vehicle — and allows it to devote its full attention to its "philanthropic mission."
“This sale allows us to focus entirely on growing our horticultural grant and scholarship programs that enrich communities across Colorado,” said Jim Fricke, executive director of the CGF, in a statement.
The CGF said it will use the proceeds from the sale to expand its support of healing gardens, community greenhouses, farm-to-table initiatives at schools and senior centers and full-ride scholarships for Colorado students pursuing horticulture-related degrees.
“Our mission remains the same—we will continue to cultivate green spaces, inspire horticultural education, and support well-being statewide," Fricke said.
The CGF was founded in 1958 and has awarded more than $13 million in horticulture-related grants and scholarships across Colorado, according to the foundation.
The Colorado Garden & Home Show is the largest and "most prestigious" event in the Rocky Mountain region, according to Marketplace Events, which said the 9-day function has more than 500 exhibitors and brings in more than 40,000 attendees each year.
“There are very few large nine-day shows with this history and reputation remaining in the U.S., and we are thrilled to add it to our ever-expanding Marketplace Events portfolio,” said Mark White, CEO of Marketplace Events, in a statement.
The smaller Colorado Fall Home Show, meanwhile, is a consumer home improvement show that, Marketplace Events said, attracts 200 exhibitors and between 3,000-5,000 attendees each year.
Marketplace Events runs more than 100 shows in 54 markets around the United States and Canada, including the Denver Home Show at the National Western Complex and the Denver Christmas and Colorado Springs Christmas shows.
