DENVER (KDVR) — Designers on Tuesday released new renderings for Denver's National Women's Soccer League team stadium, showing soaring walls of a three-sided stadium, among other amenities.

Last week, the league finalized the team's ownership group, which includes Molly Coors, Mikaela Shiffrin and Peyton Manning, and also broke ground on a state-of-the-art performance center in Centennial.

This week, designers gave fans a new look at what the stadium could look like.

The stadium was announced in March, with the team stating that the 14,500-seat stadium will be built at Denver's Santa Fe Yards, near Broadway and Interstate 25, as a purpose-built stadium for a professional women's sports team. The stadium is expected to open in spring 2028.

In the renderings, guests will walk past three office buildings and through an open green space before walking into the three-walled stadium. The architectural firm Populous is designing the stadium and the adjacent recreational area.

In April, the team broke the record for most ticket deposits sold in NWSL history, with over 10,000 season ticket deposits received by the team.

The Denver Mayor’s Office says the stadium could generate a $1.4 to $2.2 billion economic impact on the city over 30 years, but some are worried about a low return on investment.

The stadium project is estimated to cost anywhere between $400 and $500 million, with the city’s portion estimated at about $70 million. The city’s funds would be made toward capital and infrastructural improvements surrounding the stadium.

A formal appropriations request for the stadium project is expected before Denver City Council this fall.
