Of the 11 Bills cleared by the Lok Sabha so far, only two have seen a debate, while the remaining legislation has been passed without discussion amid Opposition protests.

The Lok Sabha on Tuesday (August 11, 2026) passed two more Bills, including one about renaming Kerala as Keralam, without debate as members raised slogans and carried placards to the Well demanding the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the House.

The House reassembled at 2 p.m. amid uproar, with Opposition members also raising slogans over the alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Both Bills were passed without discussion after which House was adjourned for the day.

“It seems the Congress MPs are not in favour of the renaming,” Mr. Rai took a swipe at the principal Opposition party which governs Kerala while moving the legislation.

Soon after, Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol moved the National Co-operative Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which was also passed without debate amid the continued ruckus.

    Ministers belonging to NDA parties - HD Kumaraswamy (JD-S), Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu (TDP), Ramdas Bandu Athawale (RSP-A), leaders Praful Patel (NCP), Upendra Kushwaha (RLM), Satabdi Roy (NCPI), besides others attended it.

    The NDA parliamentary party meeting is held on every Tuesday when the Parliament is in session.

    Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Tuesday moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, demanding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on alleged police action against students during a protest held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 20, 2026. 

    In its notice, Mr. Tagore alleged that lathi charges, pellet guns, tear gas, and water cannons were used against students, including women participants, resulting in injuries and widespread public concern, emphasising that these allegations require a full, fair and transparent examination by the Lok Sabha House. 

    “I seek leave to move an Adjournment Motion to discuss a matter of urgent public importance concerning the police action during the student protest held at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, on 20 July 2026. Reports and allegations arising from the incident have raised serious concerns regarding the nature and proportionality of force used to disperse the protesters. It has been alleged that lathi charges, pellet guns, tear gas, and water cannons were used against students, including women participants, resulting in injuries and widespread public concern. These allegations require a full, fair and transparent examination,” the Congress leader said.
