Krishna Prasad Tenneti says that the Opposition has attacked not just the Speaker in the house, but also the Supreme Court.

Should the Parliament function through debate and discipline, or through disruption and spectacle? The strength of the parliamentary democracy lie in the ability of the elected representatives to engage in structured debate to question the government through established procedures, and to uphold the dignity of the institution that embodies the will of the people. The Speaker’s role primarily serves to safeguard these principles. The Speaker is not an adversary to any political party. The speaker is the guardian of the political order, Mr. Tenneti says.

Kiren Rijiju says that the Speaker was being threatened by Congress MP’s who flooded the Speaker’s chamber and released an illegal video.

K.C. Venugopal responds, saying that he takes responsibility for what he says. “It is not the responsibility of the Speaker only; it is also because the Prime Minister was not present. You used the Speaker’s position as a tool,” he said.

“American officials are declaring that India is allowed to take oil from Russia for 30 days. Is this not a surrender? Why has India not uttered a single word about this?” K.C. Venugopal says.

“One of our Indian Ministers is in the Epstein Files and is being investigated on it. Is this not a debatable point? The point is that India has completely surrendered our sovereignity, integrity and economic matters to the U.S. America is completely blackmailing India,” Mr. Venugopal says.

“This was the clear speech of LoP Rahul Gandhi, which was stopped by the Chair. Where is the Prime Minister to reply? He has not been in the Parliament yesterday and today,” he said.

K.C. Venugopal says, “Ravi Shankar Prasad, who is a former Law Minister, is speaking about the conduct of the LoP, but here are some matters about the conduct of the Prime Minister.”

“When the Balakot incident happened, PM Modi spoke on news channels that during a review of the Balakot plans, experts’ opinions were to change the date, but the Prime Minister said that because there are clouds, we should proceed to attack under the radar, in spite of experts saying otherwise. And when the Army chief asked for an opinion, PM Modi said, ‘Do whatever you feel is right’,” Mr. Venugopal says.

The Opposition protests as Ravi Shankar Prasad quotes from Kaul and Shakdher’s book on Parliamentary procedure of Parliament, which outlines the responsibilities of the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Mr. Prasad also stated that regarding the process of authenticating a document, citing a recent incident when Rahul Gandhi quoted former Gen. Naravane’s unpublished memoir.

Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi says that multiple discussions raised by the Opposition have been stopped in the Parliament. ”The last time I spoke, I raised an important question about the compromises of the Prime Minister,” he said.

The Lok Sabha resumed its discussion on the resolution against Speaker Om Birla.

“Let the instrument of Opposition against the Speaker not be weaponised to satisfy the ego of some leader or some group,” BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

“11 MPs who had taken money to ask certain questions were expelled from this same parliament and no one made a protest. In the same House, there was a time when black pepper was thrown in the House,” he said.

“There was one brave judge, H.R. Khanna, who decided from ADM Jabalpur that during an Emergency, people’s fundamental rights will not be taken away. The Congress party did not even allow him to stay Chief Justice for even 45 days,” he said.
