South Africa's Yurav Premlall poses with the trophy after winning the Catalunya Championship at Real Club de Golf el Prat in Barcelona on 10 May 2026.
South African golfer Yurav Premlall surged to a stunning 14-shot victory to secure his maiden DP World Tour title at the Catalunya Championship on Sunday.
The 22-year-old made 10 birdies to shoot a second straight round of 9-under 63 and finish on 28-under par for the tournament in Barcelona, Spain.
Premlall’s victory margin came close to the all-time biggest margin set by Tiger Woods at the 2000 US Open.
Premlall’s first win on the tour came in a season when he’d missed the cut in four of his eight appearances.
The win also saw him leap to 26th on the 2026 Race to Dubai Rankings, up from 157th, while he earned $469 989 (around R7.7 million) for his heroics.

Fellow South African Shaun Norris finished alone in second on 14-under.
“No words. I’ve worked so hard to get into this position and it’s so rewarding to finally see the results of it,” Premlall told the DP World Tour website.
“I mean the last eight, nine months have been such a struggle just to build myself onto a platform where I know I could give myself a chance to win and to end up obviously in this position.
“I’m just so grateful so it’s a dream come true. I’ll start with my mum - at least it’s a Mother’s Day present so happy Mother’s Day, mum! And yeah, for my dad we worked so hard to get here.
“There’s not much else I can say. I mean my whole team, support structure, all my family. It’s so rewarding to stand up on this pedestal and be able to thank everyone for being part of this journey so far.”
