Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) -- The Arvada Police Department arrested a 55-year-old man on Tuesday who is accused of stealing a car from a woman who was with her children outside a local swimming facility.
The police department said it was dispatched to 5101 Kipling Street at 10:42 a.m. on Tuesday on a report of an aggravated robbery. The address is the site of the SafeSplash Swim School.
Investigators determined the man, Clifton William White, approached the woman, stating, "Somebody is chasing me; they are going to kill me," before driving off in her vehicle, following a struggle, police said.
APD said the woman was able to get her 3-year-old child out of the vehicle and that both children were out of the vehicle when White drove away.
Investigators were able to track the stolen vehicle to the area of 2nd Street and Ford Street in Golden. Police said officers from Arvada, Golden, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the auto theft task force responded to the area and arrested White without incident after he was reportedly trying to flag down cars on Highway 58 and Highway 6.
White received medical treatment after his arrest and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He faces a charge of aggravated robbery.
The woman and her 3-year-old child both sustained minor injuries.
