DENVER (KDVR) — More complaints from employees at several Colorado Baskin-Robbins ice cream stores have surfaced, as workers say they are not receiving regular paychecks.

Many of the workers are teenagers just entering the workforce. Nineteen-year-old Darlene Enochs tells FOX31, “It’s making me question, do I want to stay in the fast food industry?"

Enochs showed FOX31 paychecks that were returned by the bank for insufficient funds. She says if the checks did not bounce, they were for less than she had earned at the store at 120th and Colorado Boulevard.

“The fact that all of us have to deal with this is really not OK,” she said.

FOX31's Problem Solvers reported on Monday that Westminster parents are also demanding answers from the same franchise owner.

Brittani Garcia showed FOX31 her 16-year-old daughter’s returned paychecks from the store at 84th and Federal Boulevard. She says her daughter hasn’t been paid since June 5.

“To know they could be treated like this, it’s just a bummer. I don’t want her to go into the work field thinking this is how this is going to be forever,” said Garcia.

Audrina Hurtado hasn’t received her pay either.

“It’s going to be the worry of is that it's going to happen again, like all my checks start bouncing and not getting paid,” she said.

'They keep making promises ... none of it ever comes to fruition'

Baskin-Robbins employees in Firestone and Evergreen have also contacted FOX31, saying they are not receiving paychecks. One 16-year-old employee is still waiting to be paid after more than a $1,000-worth of paychecks bounced.

Lori Marcin’s son Nick says he decided to quit his job.

“They keep making promises that you will be paid the paychecks, bouncing will be fixed, none of it ever comes to fruition,” he said.

Parents say it is heartbreaking to see their children experience this disruption in their work life.

“Just made me really, really angry that this is his first experience of having a job,” said Lori Marcin.

The parent of one employee tells FOX31 her daughter did receive an apology from the company, but her paychecks bounced again.

FOX31 found that the Baskin-Robbins locations are owned by Marc Millet of Millet Desserts. The company is listed as being in good standing with the Secretary of State’s office, but seven complaints have been filed with the Department of Labor since April of this year. Three complaints are now closed.

The employees tell FOX31 they were anxious to join the workforce and earn their own money, but this isn’t the life lesson they expected.

“Knowing about this and knowing it’s affecting our lives personally, and it’s just like, what are you guys doing? We have reached out to you; you aren’t hearing us,” said Enochs.

FOX31 reached out to Millet Desserts and Baskin-Robbins’ corporate office several times this week. Millet responded and referred FOX31 to a media representative. We are still waiting for a statement.
