Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — A Neapolitan Mastiff who went missing from his foster home in Parker on Sunday was rescued from a tight spot on Monday.
According to Big Dogs Huge Paws, Carl went missing Sunday evening in a fairly rural area. On Monday, South Metro Fire Rescue posted that it had rescued a dog from an eight-foot trench at the intersection of North Pinery Parkway and Highway 83.
The rescue started at about 3:55 p.m. on Monday, when SMFR and Douglas County Sheriff's Office Animal Control officers responded to the trench, finding the large dog approximately eight feet down in the earth.
Heavy construction equipment from the nearby Fiore and Sons construction team, pickaxes and multiple SMFR apparatuses were used to try and open up the trench enough to get Carl out without hurting him.
He was safely and quickly extracted and then taken to a nearby veterinary emergency room for evaluation, according to SMFR.
Later, the rescue workers learned that Carl was from Big Dogs Huge Paws, which posted on Facebook saying that veterinary workers said that Carl was facing a positive outcome.
"Thank you to South Metro Fire Rescue for the amazing rescue!" the rescue said on Facebook.
