A plane has been reported to have crashed in Miramar near San Diego, California, as footage shows smoke billowing into the sky at the scene.

Initial reports say the place crash involved an F35. A US media outlet, ABC10, said emergency services are responding to "an aircraft mishap involving an F-35". Officials said: "We can confirm a Class A mishap involving a Marine Corps F-35B in the vicinity of MCAS Miramar. The pilot ejected and has been recovered. More information will be made available shortly."

'Plane burned down' after crash

According to reports coming from the US, the plane burned down almost completely after the crash.

The Marine Corps confirmed that the pilot has ejected, but his condition remains unknown.
