(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The City of Manitou Springs has extended its closure and detours of roads near Manitou Avenue due to unanticipated complications of an emergency line sewer repair project.

Initial plans projected the project to be completed by June 20, but onsite crews from Lando Excavation LLC found additional structural challenges associated with aging sewer lines. According to the City, these conditions require further excavation and preparation to "ensure the long-term stability and function of the system."

Traffic impacts remain:

  • Crytal Park Road is fully closed from Poplar Place to Manitou Avenue.
  • Manitou Avenue is shifting lane closures near the work zone, but two-way traffic is maintained.
  • Traffic crews and signage remain in place to manage the flow of traffic and assist drivers.

The City said work will continue around the clock, 24/7, with rotating crews in place. The emergency sewer line repair will be extended through June 30.

"The City of Manitou Springs is closely managing the project to ensure it is completed as efficiently and correctly as possible while prioritizing public safety," the City said.
