On Monday, the Denver District Attorney's Office said a jury convicted George Vigil of manslaughter, and he faces two to six years in prison.
This conviction comes after the 19-year-old stabbed his uncle to death in September 2024. According to a probable cause statement obtained by FOX31 in 2024, Vigil told officers that someone in the house wanted to make a sandwich and asked where the hot sauce was.
Vigil reportedly said it was upstairs, which is when an argument ensued between family members over the bottle. The probable cause statement said the victim allegedly challenged Vigil to fight.
Vigil then stabbed his uncle, Robert Vigil. Robert was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.
