Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — A man died at Prewitt Reservoir on Tuesday, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
The incident reportedly happened at about 1:30 p.m. Witnesses told CPW that at around that time, they saw two male adults launching a boat onto Prewitt Reservoir.
One man was in the boat and the second man was on the dock. As the boat began to drift away from the dock, the man on the dock jumped into the water and began to swim out toward the boat.
CPW said that witnesses saw the swimmer begin to struggle, then go underwater. The witnesses said the man in the boat jumped into the reservoir to swim toward the other man, but also started to struggle.
The man who jumped into the water from the boat was rescued by another boat, CPW reported. Neither man was reportedly wearing a life jacket.
CPW officers searched the reservoir for the missing man using multiple boats with sonar, assisted by Sterling Fire Department divers. The missing man's body was recovered at about 3:15 p.m.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado State Patrol also responded to the reservoir. The Washington County Coroner will release the man's identity and cause of death.
