Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — A man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting people with a chain in Boulder, the Boulder Police Department announced in a press release on Friday night.
Police responded to a report of a woman who was being assaulted by a man wielding a chain near 13th Street and Canyon Boulevard at 11:22 a.m. on Thursday. Between 11:26 a.m. and 11:36 a.m., more calls were received about a similar incident, this time near 16th Street and Pearl Street.
The suspect fled on a bike before police arrived.
Another report came in at 12:05 p.m. from the 4800 block of Baseline Road, and later in the evening, two more victims were identified in connection with the suspect.
From the first report on Thursday to the time of the suspect's arrest at 4:48 p.m. on Friday, eight people, seven women and one man, were identified as victims by Boulder police.
In some of the instances, the suspect struck the victims with the chain, which was described as being similar to those used for securing bikes or gates. In others, he swung the chain around in a "threatening manner" and hit a vehicle, but did not make contact with the person.
A 28-year-old man was arrested and faces charges, including:
- Second-degree assault
- Attempted second-degree assault
- Felony menacing
- Criminal mischief
Police said they recovered multiple chains that the man had in his possession.
No serious injuries were reported by the victims.
Investigators said that they are still working on the incident, and additional charges may be filed. Boulder police ask anyone with information regarding the incident to call Boulder police detectives at 303-441-1974.
