Jessica Pegula is one of the world's richest athletes and is making an impact at Wimbledon this year

Jessica Pegula's billionaire father's fortune has climbed to stunning heights in recent times. Pegula, currently ranked world No. 4 in the women's singles standings, has long been branded as 'the world's wealthiest tennis player'.

She is preparing to face fellow American Coco Gauff in the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Tuesday, July 7. Her colossal bank balance is attributed to her family's exceptional net worth, with the 32-year-old poised to inherit a share of her dad, Terrence Pegula's, money.

Terrence, known as Terry, recently benefited from a huge boost to his fortune, elevating it to an eye-watering £6.9billion. In 2025, it stood at £5.6bn.

Now on his way to the £10bn landmark, Forbes presently places him as the 367th richest individual on the planet. Pegula could even add to her fortune in waiting if she wins Wimbledon this year, with the Women's champion expected to claim £3.6m.

Terry amassed his fortune through his ventures in the oil and gas industry. The billionaire also owns sporting giants Buffalo Bills (NFL) and Buffalo Sabres (NHL).

The family's lavish assets include a £58m superyacht named Top Five II and a private jet, which Jessica regularly makes use of and occasionally shares with fellow players on the tour.

Yet Pegula's family fortune hasn't dampened her drive to succeed on the court, having climbed as high as No. 3 in singles and No. 1 in doubles.

Her triumph in February at the Dubai Tennis Championships, where she beat Elina Svitolina 6-2 6-4 in the final, marked her 10th career singles title.

Pegula also made it to the Australian Open semi-final earlier this year, while her most impressive Grand Slam showing to date came in 2024 when she reached the US Open final. Her best doubles result was making the French Open final back in 2022.

The American is currently in action at Indian Wells, California, where she faces Switzerland's Belinda Bencic in the round of 16 on Wednesday evening.

Her father's considerable fortune has led some to question why she continues to pour so much energy into her tennis career. Pegula recently addressed those queries, saying: "I don't know. It's something I've loved to do since I was a kid, since before I had anything about my family or money or the teams or stuff like that.

"I wanted to be No. 1 in the world when I was, like, six years old. It's been my dream for as long as I can remember to be No. 1, to be able to play on tour, to be able to win Slams.

"I mean, it's pretty cool that I can look back and say that I'm putting myself in contention to do that, living out my dream. Yeah, it's just honestly been a goal of mine since I was a little girl."

Pegula has made it to the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the second time after she beat her compatriot Iva Jovic in the fourth round. The last time Pegula reached the last eight at the All England Club came in 2023.
