BBC One viewers are set for a real treat as a six-part drama praised as "faultless" has arrived on the channel.

I, Jack Wright is a murder mystery series which originally premiered in April 2025 on U&Alibi and is now accessible on BBC One and BBC iPlayer following its acquisition by the broadcaster.

This means anyone who missed the twisting whodunnit can catch up from Sunday, July 12, to experience all the drama. The series is penned by Chris Lang, celebrated for Unforgotten, Innocent, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, and boasts an impressive ensemble cast.

The stellar line-up for I, Jack Wright features Nikki-Amuka Bird, John Simm, Daniel Rigby, Ruby Ashbourne-Serkis, Zoë Tapper, Percelle Ascott, Harry Lloyd and Liz Kingsman, reports Wales Online.

A synopsis for the series states: "I, Jack Wright, is a propulsive whodunnit with family secrets at its core. The apparent death by suicide of high-powered businessman Jack Wright sends shockwaves through his family, leaving a mystery that pits greed, loyalty and suspicion against one another."

"As his many wives and children fight over the remains of his estate, a dogged police detective investigates – and uncovers the shocking truth about this well-heeled clan."

How many episodes of I, Jack Wright are there?

The first series comprises six episodes in total.

The opening episode launches on BBC One at 9:15pm on Sunday, July 12, with the second episode following at 10:30pm in a double bill. Those enjoying the opening two episodes won't face a lengthy wait, as episodes three and four will be broadcast on Monday, 13 July.

Episode three airs at 9.15pm, while episode four follows after the 10pm news at 10.40pm.

Episodes five and six are expected to air on Sunday, 19 July.

Will there be an I, Jack Wright season two?

Yes, season two is currently in production. The BBC has acquired both series, meaning that not only will season one be re-broadcast by the channel, but season two will also be shown on the channel in due course.

The second series will feature the return of Nikki Amuka-Bird as Sally Wright, John Simm as Gray Wright, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis as Emily Wright, and Daniel Rigby as John Wright. Harry Lloyd reprises his role as DCI Morgan, with new cast members Tom Austen (Rematch) and Zora Bishop (Hijack) joining for season two.

While a release date hasn't been confirmed, the BBC have offered a glimpse of what's to come.

A synopsis for season two reads: "The Wrights are back – and deadlier than ever. Still reeling from the death of patriarch Jack, the family are blindsided by the arrest of one of their own for his murder. But have the police got the right person? And more importantly, how could this affect their inheritance payouts? Add in one new family member, two new wills, and three new bodies, and prepare for an explosive return to the twisted world of the Wright family."
