Denver police investigators found signs that the victim had been assaulted and that the injuries likely resulted in the victim’s death, according to a police press release.

Investigators identified Rick Roybal-Smith, 38, as the suspect who assaulted the victim, who was not identified by police, and arrested him in connection to the homicide.

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, police said, and the Denver District Attorney's Office will determine final charges.
