Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwaySAGUACHE COUNTY, Colo. (KXRM) — Human remains found by a hiker in a remote area of Saguache County have been confirmed to be missing 55-year-old Edna Quintana, the Saguache County Sheriff's Office confirmed.
Quintana was reported missing around May 3, 2023. She was last reported rock hunting on County Road 46AA in Saguache.
While police were looking for Quintana, they discovered the remains of Suzanne Morphew, who had been missing since Mother's Day 2020. On June 20, 2025, her husband, Barry Morphew, was indicted on murder charges for her death.
On Tuesday, June 17, a hiker in a remote area of Saguache County discovered what appeared to be human remains. Deputies were contacted, and they responded to the scene and secured it. The next day, deputies returned along with agents and crime scene analysts from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and two cadaver dog teams to search. The remains were carefully recovered and taken to the El Paso County Coroner's Office.
On Wednesday, June 25, the remains were confirmed to be Quintana's. Currently, the manner and cause of death are still under investigation, and the Saguache County Sheriff's Office is working closely with CBI to determine the circumstances around her death.
"Saguache County Deputies have since made contact with Ms. Quintana’s family to inform them of the identification and to offer their support," wrote the Saguache County Sheriff's Office. "The Sheriff's Office expresses its deepest condolences to the Quintana family during this difficult time."
