Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — A fire was threatening apartment buildings in Glenwood Springs on Thursday evening, prompting evacuations.
The Glenwood Springs Fire Department said that all Altitude Apartment buildings were actively being evacuated at 7:40 p.m. At about 8:43 p.m., the evacuations had been rescinded.
The agency said at 7:37 p.m. that helicopter support was en route, and provided another update at about 8:25 p.m. that said the helicopter had helped slow the fire's growth and was released.
Crews were expected to work through the night to build a handline around the fire.
At this time, it's unknown how large the fire is, but is located between 23rd and 27th Streets, and was initially estimated at about a quarter acre.
The Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District was providing mutual aid for the fire, and the Glenwood Springs Police Department was also responding.
People are asked to avoid the area while crews work.
