Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — A member of Hollywood's royalty is hosting a Q&A after a screening of his most recent film at the Paramount Theatre.
Francis Ford Coppola will showcase his film "Megalopolis" in Denver on July 27.
Coppola is a five-time Academy Award-winning director who became prominent during the "New Hollywood era," a period that began in the late 1960s and lasted through the 1970s.
He is responsible for what many argue is the best movie of all time, "The Godfather," as well as iconic films, including:
- "The Godfather Part II"
- "Apocalypse Now"
- "The Outsiders"
- "Bram Stoker's Dracula"
- "The Conversation"
A cinema purist, Coppola said he does not want to see his most recent project, "Megalopolis," on streaming services and believes the film is best served being seen on the silver screen in a theater packed with film fanatics.
That's why he is showing the film on a tour across the United States this summer. The tour will make stops at cities, including:
- Count Basie Center for the Arts, New Jersey — July 20
- The Capitol Theatre, New York — July 23
- The Chicago Theatre, Chicago — July 25
- Paramount Theatre, Denver — July 27
- The Texas Theatre, Dallas — July 29
- Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco — Aug. 1
"Megalopolis" is one of Coppola's biggest passion projects, a decades-long idea, which he self-funded with money generated through his wine business. The film was created on a budget of over $100 million, according to Business Insider, but did not perform well at the box office, earning back only an estimated $11.5 million after its first theatrical release in 2024.
The project was distributed by Lionsgate.
Tickets for the screening and Q&A in Denver can be found on Ticketmaster.
