Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — A multi-million-dollar house covered in steel is on the market in Denver's Hilltop neighborhood, but it might look a little different depending on when you're looking at it.
The house lies on South Grape Street, just a few blocks from Highline Academy and Interstate 25 at Evans Avenue. LIV Sotheby's International Realty listed it for $2.75 million, and while the house comes with features like a detached studio shed and a five-piece bath in the primary suite, it's known for what's on the outside.
According to the reality, the outside of the custom-built house is made from Corten steel, a metal that continues to patina over time. Patina is a green or brown film over a metal that is produced by oxidation. The result is that it changes colors over time.
So, the reality said depending on the weather, like rain exposure or snow, the steel responds to the elements. Here's what it looks like:
The current owner, Jonathan Alpert, said the steel requires no maintenance, and it's constantly changing.
"To me it is just a beautiful thing to watch the home change throughout time," said Alpert.
On the inside of the color-changing house, there are four bedrooms and four full baths with a partial bathroom. The three-level home has modern architecture with a recreation room and a guest suite. In the backyard, there's a detached shed that's heated, cooled and can be used for anything from a workspace to a yoga retreat.
The house was built in 2014, and now it's on sale for millions.
