The agency said in a post on X that vegetation has dried out and is "very receptive" to fire since the rain earlier in the week.
WMFR offered several tips on how residents can help prevent a wildfire amid the "very high" danger designation:
- Make sure chains are properly stowed if towing a trailer
- Avoid driving or parking on dry grass
- Properly discard smoking materials and make sure they are completely extinguished
- At home, be careful to avoid striking rocks when mowing the lawn
Residents in Jefferson County and Douglas County can also sign up for alerts to stay in the know in the event of a fire or other emergency.
