Warmer weather is coming to a few lucky areas of the UK this Easter weekend, a forecaster has told the Mirror, despite Storm Dave bringing 90mph wind, rain and heavy snow to much of the country

A few lucky areas of Britain are set to enjoy 19C 'beach days' this Easter despite signs of a bank holiday washout, a forecaster has told the Mirror.

Storm Dave is set to batter the northern UK this Easter weekend with 90mph winds, heavy rain, and snow, with weather warnings covering the north of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of Wales over the next 24 hours.

However, the next three days of the bank holiday will have a very different feel if you're further south, as mild, overcast weather and some sunny spells are forecast before temperatures begin to rise on Monday morning.

According to British Weather Services' senior meteorologist Jim Dale, the south will enjoy "beach day" conditions of around 18C on Easter Monday, which is set to be the sunniest and warmest day of the bank holiday weekend.

He told the Mirror: "Monday's the best of the weekend for everybody. It'll be warm, It'll be mostly sunny and it will be mostly dry. Northern Ireland will catch up with some rain later but generally speaking it's the best day of the four.

”The sun will be out on Monday. Monday's a beach day for the south, it's a countryside day, it's a mountain day. If you're planning to go and climb Ben Nevis on Saturday, forget it and go on Monday instead. Even Sunday's better, but it'll still be windy. You're looking at the best day and you might well see 17C or 18C in certain places on Monday."

A temperature anomaly map by WXCharts meanwhile shows a clear north-south split on Easter Monday, with conditions warmer than the seasonal average across much of England and Wales, but cooler towards the Pennines and Scotland.

Ahead of Storm Dave, Mr Dale warned that the worst of the weather will strike from tonight into Sunday morning - and . "It's a northern event, it's not a southern event at all," the meteorologist said, adding that the "real brunt" will hit the west and north of Scotland.

While these Scottish regions face severe gales and "driving rain and blizzard conditions for the higher hills and mountains," the storm will steadily weaken further south, dropping to 55 mph in northern England and just 40 mph in the Midlands.

He stressed that the timing of the storm makes it particularly dangerous for those travelling or spending time outdoors for the bank holiday, adding: "The reason I mention this more than anything is obviously people are out and about."

Warmer weather is on the way next week, as Met Office forecasts show temperatures rising to 21C some areas by Wednesday.
