Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — A former Commerce City teacher, Michelle McMillan, 44, has been charged with felony sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, following a police investigation of an incident in 2016.
Commerce City Police Department said in a press release that the victim came forward to a parent in December 2024, alleging that back in 2016, when the victim had been attending Landmark Academy, was when the alleged sexual assault was committed by McMillan.
At the time, McMillan was employed by the school as a teacher.
"The investigation by the Commerce City Police Department and Brighton Police Department’s combined Sexual Assault Task Force, detectives issued a warrant for McMillan’s arrest late last week," the agency said.
Following the charge, McMillan turned herself in on June 29 to the Adams County Detention Facility.
FOX31 reached out to the Brighton 27J School District and has not heard back yet on McMillan's employment status.
The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office stated that any further questions regarding this case should be directed to its office.
