DENVER (KDVR) -- A dog was rescued Saturday morning after getting stuck in a drainage pipe at the Parker Water Treatment Facility.

Crews with South Metro Fire Rescue, the Parker Police Department and Douglas County Animal Control were involved in the rescue, according to SMFR.

Father, son rescued after 15-hour, overnight rescue mission

SMFR said only the dog's head was visible from the drainage pipe when they arrived on scene, and that firefighters from its Tower 45 unit used an aerial bucket to access the dog and perform a "safe" and "controlled" rescue.

The dog, who did not appear to be injured, was reunited with Animal Control officers according to SMFR, which said DCAC is working to identify the dog's owner so that it can be reuined with its family.

SMFR said it is unknown how the dog had become trapped in the pipe or how long it had been stuck.
