Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — The Denver International Airport is preparing for a busy travel period for Independence Day and is giving travelers a heads up on what to expect regarding security lines, parking availability and new airline check-in counter locations.
From June 26 to July 7, more than 900,000 passengers are predicted to travel through DIA’s security checkpoints, the airport said in a press release Wednesday. DIA says that the busiest travel day is predicted to be July 6.
Travelers are encouraged to get to the airport at least 2 hours before boarding time so they can check bags, get through security and arrive at their gates. Longer security lines are expected during "peak times" of 3 to 4:30 a.m., 8 to 10 a.m. and 3 a.m. to 5 p.m.
DIA said the west security checkpoint — located on Level 6 — is the main checkpoint for TSA PreCheck passengers, while the south security checkpoint — located on Level 5 — is primarily for standard screening passengers.
Due to construction in West Economy Lot and West Garage Level 1, DIA said it expects parking to fill-up quickly in the Pikes Peak Lot and Longs Peak Lot, which will remain open until full. DIA said an alternative to parking at the lots can be "taking the RTD A-line."
The airport also reminded passengers of the 24 DIA airline check-in, bag drop off counters that have been relocated to different levels of the building, and to plan accordingly.
DIA has the full list of information on what to expect during the holiday travel. Passengers who have questions regarding their travel can also reach out to the customer service team by calling 720-730-4359.
