DENVER (KDVR) — Friday marks the fifth anniversary involving an unsolved homicide case of a then-27-year-old man, Angel De La Cruz, as the Denver Police Department is asking community members to come forward with any information regarding his death.

On June 20, 2022, on the off-ramp to 20th Street on Interstate 25 at around 2:45 a.m., a man whose identity was not released at that time was shot and then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Office of the Medical Examiner later identified the man as 27-year-old Angel De La Cruz and ruled his death a homicide.

In Colorado, the Cold Case Database will contain most "cases in our state where 3 years have passed since the crime occurred, dating back to 1970," according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

"Each year, we contact local law enforcement regarding cases that may now meet the 3-year requirement," said CBI.

Anyone with any information concerning this cold case is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867.
