Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) -- Denver city employees alongside a group called Stronger Denver will be rallying over the city's proposed change in layoff policy.
This all comes as Denver voters already decided to allow collective bargaining. Workers say that the city would be eliminating the long-standing seniority-based system in favor of a vague "merit based" approach.
They argue it leaves too much room for favoritism and endangers the livelihoods of some of our city's most devoted public servants. The same group rallied a couple of weeks ago.
Denver voters passed the ballot measure in 2024 that allows certain city agencies like waste, water, library, court workers and more to participate in collective bargaining. They believe this is trying to supersede that.
The rally is set to take place at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning. FOX31 reached out to the mayor’s office for comment.
