Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — Housing prices are going up, and a new report found that the average U.S. buyer would need a more than $17,000 raise — and even higher in Denver — to afford a typical home.
According to a new Zillow report, the average home buyer needs a big raise before being able to afford a house. The real estate website used average salaries across the country to find how much more a median-income family needs to afford a typical home.
Across the U.S., the report found that buyers need a six-figure salary to afford a typical home worth $367,969. So, with the country's median income of $82,168, buyers need about a $17,670 raise to afford the mortgage payments, even after saving $73,000 for a 20% down payment.
While a median-income family would need a more than $17,000 raise, those looking to settle down in Denver would need even more of a salary boost.
