Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayGOLDEN, Colo. (KDVR) — A red flag warning remains in effect for a stretch of Clear Creek, in Jefferson County, which runs through Golden.
A red flag has been posted atop the Washington Avenue Bridge in downtown Golden and warning signs are posted up and down the creek trail.
Because of a high cubic feet per second rate, a red flag warning prohibits any swimmers or inner-tubers from entering the water.
For the city of Golden portion of the creek, the red flag warning is issued by the chief of police. In total, the warning is issued in conjunction with the Golden Fire Department, the city manager’s office and Jefferson County.
Jefferson County has allowed the placement of the flags, west of Highway 6, to expand and enhance public awareness. Enforcement of the ban is through the Golden Police Department.
If caught, violators could be fined. A spokesperson for the fire department says they will continue to monitor water levels.
