Global sales for cinnamon exported from all countries totaled US$898.4 million in 2025.

The overall value of cinnamon exports dropped by an average -18.6% for all exporting countries from five years earlier in 2021 when worldwide cinnamon shipments were valued at $1.1 billion.

Year over year, the growth in the value of globally exported cinnamon grew by 1.8% compared to $882.4 million starting in 2024.

The world’s top 5 exporters of cinnamon are Vietnam, Sri Lanka, mainland China, Indonesia and the Netherlands. That cohort of major suppliers generated 85.8% of the world’s spending on cinnamon exported during 2025. Such a high percentage suggests a relatively concentrated set of international suppliers for the popular spice.

From a continental perspective, 85.4% of worldwide spending on cinnamon exports was shipped from suppliers in Asia. Another 10.5% came from sources in Europe.

Smaller percentages originated from exporters in North America (2.6%), Africa (1.2%), Latin America (0.3%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, and Oceania (0.04%) Australia and New Zealand only.

For research purposes, the 4-digit Harmonized Tariff System code prefix is 0906 for cinnamon including cinnamon-tree flowers.

Below are the 15 countries that exported the highest dollar value worth of cinnamon during 2025.

  1. Vietnam: US$279.9 million (31.2% of total cinnamon exports)
  2. Sri Lanka: $246.7 million (27.5%)
  3. mainland China: $117.1 million (13%)
  4. Indonesia: $97.2 million (10.8%)
  5. Netherlands: $29.9 million (3.3%)
  6. United States: $18.4 million (2%)
  7. Germany: $18.4 million (2%)
  8. India: $16.6 million (1.8%)
  9. Madagascar: $8.9 million (1%)
  10. France: $7.9 million (0.9%)
  11. Poland: $6.85 million (0.8%)
  12. Austria: $6.83 million (0.8%)
  13. Spain: $4.6 million (0.5%)
  14. Türkiye: $2.9 million (0.3%)
  15. United Kingdom: $2.7 million (0.3%)

By value, the listed 15 countries shipped 96.3% of globally exported cinnamon in 2025.

Among the top exporters, the fastest-growing cinnamon exporters since 2024 were: Madagascar (up 30.4%), Germany (up 26.1%), India (up 22.8%) and Poland (up 18.3%).

Those countries that posted year-over-year declines in their exported cinnamon sales were: Indonesia (down -13.4%), mainland China (down -6.7%) and the United Kingdom (down -6.3%).

Countries Reaping Largest Trade Surpluses from Cinnamon

The following countries posted the highest positive net exports for cinnamon during 2025. Investopedia defines net exports as the value of a country’s total exports minus the value of its total imports. The United States of America incurred the highest deficit in the international trade of cinnamon. In turn, this negative cashflow highlights America’s competitive disadvantage for this specific product category but also signals opportunities for cinnamon-supplying countries that help satisfy the powerful consumer demand.
