Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) -- Deputies arrested one person on multiple charges after a pursuit in Douglas County on Friday.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office shared a video of the pursuit on X on Monday, showing the multiple efforts that it took to stop the fleeing suspect.
Deputies were alerted to a stolen vehicle that was detected by a Flock camera, and it was located at an apartment complex. The sheriff's office said a deputy waited for backup when the suspect unexpectedly drove away.
"A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver fled, initiating a pursuit," the sheriff's office said.
Deputies deployed stop sticks, which deflated some of the vehicle's tires, but did not stop the suspect from fleeing.
The sheriff's office said deputies then used a tactical vehicle intervention that was initially successful, but when deputies tried to pin the vehicle, it rammed a patrol car and continued to flee. Deputies performed a second TVI, which stopped the vehicle, but not the suspect, who continued to flee on foot.
The suspect was caught after a short foot pursuit and arrested on several charges, from traffic offenses to assault and eluding. The sheriff's office said investigators searched the suspect's vehicle and found "narcotics and other suspicious items."
The sheriff's office said the driver, from Denver, was arrested and charged with:
- Motor vehicle theft
- Second-degree assault – peace officer
- Vehicular eluding
- Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
- Reckless endangerment
- Unlawful possession of schedule III, IV, V controlled substances
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Driving under restraint
- Failure to obey traffic signal
- Driving on wrong side of roadway
- 3 counts of violation of protection order
- Criminal possession of a financial device
The driver also had two active felony warrants and two misdemeanor warrants, according to police.
One deputy was taken to a hospital after their patrol vehicle was hit, but they are expected to make a full recovery.
