Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — Broomfield residents have a fresh place to cool off this summer as The Bay Aquatic Park has reopened, but with a reservation system in place.
Renovations began in August last year for the section of the park constructed in 1990 and 1991, with crews replacing the main play and lap pool, installing new plumbing, an otter slide, two body slides, a splashdown pool and a new play structure.
According to the city and county of Broomfield, the water park is designed for families and children ages 13 and younger. It reopened to residents on Monday, July 7, at 10 a.m.
But not all the changes are being welcomed: Some took to Facebook on Monday to note that the refreshed water park also requires reservations, and those reservations are for three-hour slots. Guests of the park are allowed to book a maximum of one session each day.
"3 hours goes by fast. Felt like we got there and had to go home. Not sure how I feel about the change. But the park looks nice," one commenter said.
Others were just happy the aquatic park had reopened.
"We went today and had a great time, the city did a great job with all the upgrades!" one commenter said.
Broomfield said the reservations are designed to manage park capacity and wait times, so it's a better user experience. The reservations will be offered on a week-to-week basis, and anyone who wants a reservation needs a B-REx.com account.
Reservations are offered for morning and afternoon "sessions," which will last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Between sessions, The Bay will close and everyone will be asked to exit the park. Another session will be available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Non-residents can also purchase access to the park, but residents get a discount. A full list of pricing and restrictions is available here.
