Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDENVER (KDVR) — The Thornton Police Department has filed 21 total charges against a suspect allegedly involved in a non-injury shooting on June 19.
In a post, Thornton Police Department states that officers responded to reports of a person in a vehicle shooting multiple rounds towards a residence in the 9500 Block of Clayton Court.
Responding officers saw a vehicle matching the description of the initial reports and tried to do a traffic stop, which ultimately led the driver to flee.
TPD stated that officers recovered multiple shell casts, confirmed the incident appeared to be targeted and then identified the suspect as Carlos Valiente Lopez, 33.
Officers determined after the initial investigation that there was "no ongoing threat to the public" as Lopez allegedly fled the scene but police issued a "be on the look out alert" based on the information and seriousness of the incident at that time.
Lopez was later detained in Wyoming by law enforcement.
The 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office formally filed charges against Lopez on June 25:
- 9 counts of felony menacing (class 5 felony)
- 8 counts of felony vehicular eluding (class 5 felony)
- 4 counts of criminal mischief (class 5 felony, 2 class 6 felonies, class 2 misdemeanor)
TPD stated that the initial BOLO reflected the severity of the incident, the final charges were filed based on the recent evidence.
