Officers determined after the initial investigation that there was "no ongoing threat to the public" as Lopez allegedly fled the scene but police issued a "be on the look out alert" based on the information and seriousness of the incident at that time.

Lopez was later detained in Wyoming by law enforcement.

The 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office formally filed charges against Lopez on June 25:

  • 9 counts of felony menacing (class 5 felony)
  • 8 counts of felony vehicular eluding (class 5 felony)
  • 4 counts of criminal mischief (class 5 felony, 2 class 6 felonies, class 2 misdemeanor)

TPD stated that the initial BOLO reflected the severity of the incident, the final charges were filed based on the recent evidence.
