The Anglo-Indian Community Association of Andhra Pradesh (AICA-AP), Visakhapatnam Branch, observed World Anglo-Indian Day in Seethammadhara on Monday. The celebrations began with a Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Sibi of SFS Church, Madhurawada. Association office-bearers, including president Edward Lazaro, vice-president Judy Teresa White, special adviser June Gallyot Rodrigues and joint secretary Brian Martin Irwin, attended the service.
Palla Srinivasa Rao, MLA and State president of the TDP, attended the evening programme as chief guest. He recalled his years as a student of St. Joseph’s School, Malkapuram, and spoke of the community’s contributions to the railways, education, the armed forces and healthcare. Lifetime Achievement honours were presented to Anita Pereira, Christabel Stevenson and Aubrey Bernard Hoyle for their contributions to society. The programme also featured music by Lemuel Stevenson, followed by a community dinner.
