We’ve been highlighting reader-submitted scenes every Monday morning for three and a half years through Weekend Snapshot, and they never fail to keep us guessing. No two weeks are the same, and we’re always surprised by where we end up. This time around, folks from our worldwide community bring us along for bikepacking getaways through the mountains of Ecuador, the Utah desert, and the forests of Northern California. Take a peek below, and once you’ve done so, we hope you’ll use the short form to share a shot from one of your recent rides.
California
By Dallas Mignano
A while back, I joined a local bike camping event organized by Paul Components. Riders came from all over Northern California, including Chico, Nevada City, and the Bay Area to venture out to Whiskeytown from the Redding Adventure Hub bike shop in downtown Redding. There ended up being 30 of us in total. Everyone was there to have a good time and down to chill along the way.
Ecuador
By Clotaire Mandel
Some say this first stretch of the Trans Ecuador Mountain Bike Route (TEMBR) never dries up. Well, I guess they’re right. I’m glad we cleaned and tuned the bikes before the start.
Utah
By Bob Stovern
Spent the night at Valley of the Gods last weekend during a 70-mile overnight trip. Fantastic views from camp, and I enjoyed meeting other adventurous people during my time there. The total ride was about 22 miles of pavement and just under 50 miles of dirt. The climb up Moki Dugway was easier than expected, and I’m looking forward to including that climb during an upcoming 125-mile ride that includes the forest service road between Bears Ears.
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: We prefer 3:2 ratio landscape-oriented photos.
